Frequently asked questions about headwear
Can I wear the balaclava under a helmet?
Yes, it is made for that. The garment is thin over the crown precisely so that the helmet's padding stays in the right position. Still, try the combination before you need it for real — some close-fitting helmets need one extra click of room, and you only notice when you move your head.
How do I wash flame-resistant garments?
Follow the care label in the garment. As a general rule: low temperature, no fabric softener and no tumble drying; fabric softener and proofing treatments form a film in the weave, which is the last thing you want on a flame-resistant garment. Hang to air-dry, out of direct sunlight.
Is the neck gaiter enough, or do I need the balaclava?
The neck gaiter covers the neck and chin and is enough in milder weather or when you just want to keep the wind off the back of your neck. The balaclava also covers the crown and half of the face, and is the choice in cold weather, on long shifts outdoors or when you want one garment that does everything.
